Chris Norton
After developing a passion for music and writing at an early age, Chris Norton chose to pursue his interests at Millersville University in the Fall of 2010, where he spent four years growing and expanding his skillset. In Chris’ first two years, he majored in Music Business and Technology, learning about the music business as a whole, and the technological aspects of recording. During this time, he took part in the university’s percussion ensemble. This group performed for several large events in the tri-state area, quickly gaining a reputation as a talented and professional ensemble.
Once he realized a career in writing better suit him, Chris decided to change his major to English with a focus in Journalism, while still maintaining a minor in Music. He then joined Millersville University’s newspaper The Snapper. After a few months as a writer for the Sports section, Chris became Sports Editor, overseeing the entire section and its writers. His new title gave him the responsibilities of assigning articles, designing the layout of the Sports section, and providing the role of a successful manager for his writers. During his time with The Snapper, Chris was the recipient of the Silver Pen award, and the Golden Pen award for his contributions to the section’s layout and content.
Graduating college in the Spring of 2014, Chris then joined Clipper Magazine as an Account Services Coordinator. There, his responsibilities included being a successful liaison between sales representatives and their clients. In his time with the company, Chris greatly developed his skills in customer service, communication, organization, and time management. Shortly after his one-year anniversary, Chris was nominated for employee of the month by a number of his sales representatives.
Outside of the office, Chris continued his passion for music through drumming, which led him to joining and forming several bands, treating each as a business, and devoting countless hours to writing and recording. Through hard work and collaboration, he and his bandmates successfully performed in front of a crowd of 3,000+ opening for the band Panic At The Disco, marking the pinnacle of the young band’s career. Though no longer in a band, Chris actively performs with fellow musicians, seeking to improve his musical skills on a daily basis.
Another aspect of Chris’ personal life revolves around animal rights. He has devoted many hours to volunteering at local animal shelters and SPCAs, as well as actively pet-sitting for the local community.
Growing up in the Greater Philadelphia area, Chris naturally became an avid Philadelphia sports fan, while successfully avoiding the negative reputation that came with the title. After spending the first 18 years of his life routinely attending Eagles, Flyers, Phillies, and Sixers games, Chris developed an interest in traveling. He has spent time in cities like New Orleans, Montgomery, and Chicago, before going international. In the summer of 2015, he spent two weeks in Madrid, Spain, followed by another week in Cancun, Mexico.
Chris constantly strives to improve his skillset, and himself as a person in order to help those around him, as he feels that working with others is one of the most rewarding activities possible. Joining the company BrandYourself in September of 2016, Chris felt that this was the platform needed to reach those goals.
